How do I remove the entire footer?

I know I have to edit either /your_template/common/tpl_main_page and/or tpl_footer but I dont know what code I have to edit in those files. I am not familiar with the code so please show me exactly what to remove.

I have turned off many features but the footer is still there. I would like the Green bar and all of the space beneath it to be removed. This of course means removing the "powered by zen" link but I will move that to somewhere else within the site
