    email error Product notification

I have provided the option for customers to be "Notified of Updates to product" which I assume meant when goods come back in stock? By clicking on the "Notifications Icon" of the items they are interested in, customers should receive an email when goods which are out of stock, come back in?

I decided to trial it, logged into the site as a customer, and clicked on "Notify me of Updates" to a specific product. Then, I logged into the Admin panel, changed the product which previously showed zero stock to 10 in stock.

    Clicked update

Then i checked my emails, to which I should be sent a notifcation, and nothing. No update or anything.

Have I done something incorrect here? As an example, you can see the notifcation box here - http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/inde...roducts_id=708

    Thanks in advance
    Richard

    Notifications are not automatic.

You have to manually send out the notifications the same way you would send out a newsletter from Admin->Tools->Newsletters+Prod Notifications.

The notification-choices customers make are simply a filter for you to choose "who" gets a given notification newsletter.

It's a marketing tool, not an inventory-alert system.

I see. It's not what I thought it would be then. When I have many products coming back into stock all the time, I would be sending out product notifications all the time.

    Thanks anyway

    Hey Doc,

i notice that this asks for a whole bunch of info inline with creating an account.

i runa showcase and only really need the persons name and email address.

is there a way to remove all but those things when they click on ''notify me of updates'' sidebox?

as my store has no register feature, they arent logged in...but it seems that it takes them to the registration page.

    any advice would be great.

    Thanks,

    Tim

    Hello
using ZC last version. I got a couple of problems:

I get the Notification Sidebox in every products (is it normal or it must appear only when the product/s is Out of Stock?).

Second one: if I am not logged in (just a simple guest ) I have the Notification Sidebox (so we go back to problem number 1) but if I immediately log in in the site then I don't get anymore the Notification sidebox nowhere.

    Is it normal?

    Thank you

    Mario

This is pretty weird, for example if I go to a specific product without login on I see the notification sidebox and when I logon and go to the same product the sidebox is gone. I've also checked so that the user I'm using hasn't already subscribed to that product.

Just to check I created a new user and when I'm logged in with that user I see the notification sidebox so there must be some user attribute I'm missing.

    Cheers,
    Daniel

Check if it is your template ...

When not logged in, if you click the Notification it should take you to the login then to:
    account_notifications

There, you can hit update to add to your notifications ...

Switch to Classic Template and test this ...
