    Default Shipping Multiple Items

I've searched the forum but cannot find an explanation on how to ship multiple items. I want to charge the flat rate for the first item and then add $1.00 for each additional item ordered on the same order.

    Item A = $5.00
    Item B = $1.00

Right now it shows the shipping as $5.00 for each item.

Set your flat rate to $1 and your handling charge to $4.

I'm using the table rate method since each item has a different ship charge.

    Sorry, I mis-read your question.

AFAIK, you can't have different shipping rates for different items unless you charge shipping based on weight - and maybe even then you'll need to adjust the weights of some of your products so that certain products fall within particular weight bands - then it becomes (relatively) straight forward.

But someone else might have a better idea

Yes, it is based on weight. If shipping is $5.95 then that is what I put in the weight field when I add inventory. But say the customer orders one product with shipping of $5.95 then another product that is almost weightless so I can just throw it in the same box, I want to charge $1.00 extra and not $11.90.

Ok. Then why not do that? - If the second product is almost weightless, then it should fit (usually) within the weight band of the first product.

If not, then maybe adjust the band of the first product so it does?

I am not set up to ship based on weight. In the weight field I put the amount I am going to charge for shipping a particular item but it is not based on weight. The weight field is only used to show the shipping charge but it is not calculated based on weight.

    Hello everybody,

Can someone clear out the method I can use to :
    - ship items national/international
    and knowing that:
    - some items can be shipped as normal mail (cheap)
    - other, not depending on weight, but on size or not fitting in normal mail and should be shipped as package mail

Now I'm using table rate based on weight, but it's expensive to send internationally (all rates package).

    What I want to setup:
    - price / item (every item can have a different price). If this can be based on categories, it's a better idea. The item should have 2 (or 3) prices that can be used to ship to the zones (normal mail).
    - table rate: for 3 zones (working ok now)

The customer can decide wich shipping method to use, he will decide the cheapest one I'll suppose.

Can this be done? If I have to give more detail, please let me know.

    Any help will be appriciated.
    TIA,
    Fossie

Can someone help? I know I've seen this addressed before and resolved but I can't find the post by searching the forum. I believe it does have to do something with the handling fee but I don't want to charge a handling fee on just one item sold.

Are you able to use the Per Unit perweightunit Shipping Module?

This uses the products_weight as the shipping charge ...

You could add a Handling Fee to manage minimum shipping charge then the products_weight to manage how much to charge on a per product per unit basis ...
