Create a new product type to allow specific refining of product listing?

Case in point:

Is it possible for Zen Cart to refine by, for example, size, color, style, manufacturer, but have the software remember your last selection so you can narrow down by size AND color?

When I mess around with the music genre, the software only refines by genre OR artist OR company.

The above link is a beautiful example of what I need to accomplish.

Any info or suggestions would be most appreciated! Thanks!

That is a corporate site not based on Zen Cart. It uses a ton of javascript to do its work.
