Images won't load

HI.

I'm new to web commerce, but had no trouble installing and customizing the zen cart program, as opposed to the agora cart I tried before. I got the site where I wanted it, then started adding products. Now I have a problem. Everything is where it should be, but the images won't load. I followed the threads here I could find, but nothing seems to work. I set attributes to 777, I resized images to 125x125, 250x250, and 500x500, named them x.jpg, x_med.jpg, and x_lrg.jpg.

I am hosted on bluehost.com, and my website is www.trexagateshop.com.

I would sure appreciate any help I could get on this!!

FTP to your site and see if the images are in the images directory or not. It looks like a permission issue.

You're images seem to be getting a '403 - permission denied' error - what permissions do you have on your /images folder?

What do you have in your .htaccess file?

(BTW, you need to use UPPER-case suffixes, ie. _MED, and _LRG)

Thanks for the info. I didn't do uppercase, so will fix that. images are all 777 for permissions - I would rather have them 755, but I read a post that 755 may not work.
.htaccess file is - #prevent directory browsing -- for security
IndexIgnore */*

Order Allow,Deny
Deny from All

Since I know nothing about this file, I just followed directions from the anti-hack post on this site. Is this correct? Any other ideas?

Is your images folder also 777?

Are your small images in /images? - (eg. images/hairclip1.jpg)

Try commenting out that .htaccess section and save the .htaccess file.

O.K. It was the entry in the .htaccess file. I created an empty text file as htaccess and renamed the original .htaccess1. Thanks for the help. Now, one last question - did I solve one problem by substituting another? Is my folder now subject to hack?

You can prevent people browsing your directories by placing a blank index.html file in each one - you'll see that the main directories already have one.

Your server control panel may also have an option that you can set to prevent directory indexes being accessed - they work by putting code in the .htaccess file, similar to the code you've just removed, to deny anyone index access.

I have the index ignore feature set on some sites and it works fine, so perhaps the code you had in there that was causing your problem wasn't quite right.
