    Default Problem with virtual products

    Hi!

Okay, I am having a big problem right now. I have version 1.3.0.2 and had someone install my cart for me, as I'm not the best with this stuff. Anyways, here is my problem -

As of this morning, people who are checking out with virtual products in my store and with paypal have their payments processed and are deposited into my account, but are not receiving download links. The store has been working fine for the past 5 days and then this has suddenly happened. I am not sure where the problem is occuring, as I didn't make any changes to the cart last night except I did add a new product. If a customer checks out with a 100% discount, or a gift certificate, there is no problem, only when they actually pay for their products. Any ideas?

Thanks so much in advance for any help or insight into this problem! :)

I am having a similar problem. I have set up the Pay Pal IPN okay, the money is being processed, but when I ran a test purchase it returned me to a screen telling me the order was pending - no indication of how to actually download the product.

In order for downloads to be automatic your payment mod needs to be changed from the status of Processed to Approved.

If all payment modules are set to approved status rather than processing the download link should be immediate.

    Hope that helps

That option doesn't seem to be there (for PayPal at least). The options are:
Pending, Processing, Delivered or Update. How do I set it to Approved?

Set it to Delivered - I believe - sorry - I am saying this from memory it's been a while since I set up a download site.

I did that. It didn't help. But then I found out that there was a space to put the file name in the product attributes section. (I have wrongly assumed that I was supposed to put the file name - and path - in the product url field).

Anyway, I put in the file name and did a test purchase and it offered me a download button, but when I clicked on the button it downloaded the file into a quicktime browser window. It did not offer a drop-down list and offer a save-to-disk option. This was in Firefox.

I tried to DL it in IE7, but it timed out and showed an error, not allowing the download at all.

How do I get it to give a drop-down list with a save to disk option?

easy ... make them a zip instead of a .mp3 or .mpg or .mov etc.

It's a function of the browser to detect the filetype (basically from the filename) and launch an appropriate applet to handle the file.
If it finds it to be a zip or other archive file or something it doesn't know how to process, it'll prompt you for what to do ... thus you get the dialog box you're asking for.
