Default Attributes Controller for Dummies - AGAIN

    Hello all,

I've read all the Attribute Controller stuff on this forum (pages and pages and pages) and I must say, this is an area where Zen Cart needs to improve. It should not be this difficult to understand and set up. Really. I feel like I need a Unix Admin and DBA cert here.

I've tried setting up attributes according to the various posts on this subject and ????????. My head is spinning.

I put in Type for Attribute, 10 for sort order, and then could not for the life of me figure out where to actually list the Types in question. Now with this new page it's asking me to add product and I have no idea what all else.....

    I now have:

    Option Name: Type [Dropdown]
Option Value: Kids [Type], Original [Type], Sport [Type]

I tried selecting the 10 pack box product and defining attributes by highlighting the first Option Value and selecting Insert and get the error:

Attribute Option and Option Value Do NOT Match - Attribute was not added

    ??????

What I need is a step-by-step layman's terms to set up a dropdown menu for different variations of the same product.

    Very simply:

I want ONE entry in the database for a product called Ten Count Box of Sunscreen Wipes. On that product page I want a dropdown menu that says:

    Original
    Sport
    Kids

That's it. Pricing does not change. PLEASE someone help - this is a very frustrating process for a cart that handles everything else so elegantly.

And I need it to be very plain: Go to this page, find where it says this, type this. Then go to this page, find where it says this, type this.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Lets see if I can make some sense......
    example:

    Go to option name manager:
enter an option name (i.e. Color)
    set sort order
    pick type (i.e. Dropdown)
    click insert

    Go to option value manager:
Choose the option name from dropdown
    enter option value (i.e. Red)
    set sort order
    click insert
repeat as necessary for more values (i.e Blue)

    Go to attributes Controller:
    Choose product category
Choose product to add attributes to
Under "adding new attributes" choose the option name and option value you want to add and set the price, weight......blah, blah, that you need for that attribute Click insert
    repeat for each attribute

It appears that you missed a step some where, like you have option values with out a corresponding option name
