help question Help "Sorry. File not Found"

Ok, I have search this site, and came close to finding an answer, but not close enough.
Here is my problem. I have a zip file that I am setting up for download. Everything works great up to the point of download. It is telling me it can't find the file.
Now before it is asked, yes the file has been uploaded, and the zip address is correct. Yet it is telling me it can't find the file. Has anyone else run into this and how did you solve it?

Would like to get store up and running.
    Thanks,
    Cathie

    1. Are you on a Linux or Windows host?
    2. What are all your settings in Admin->Configuration->Attribute Settings?
    3. What are the folder-permissions on the /pub folder on your site?

    Here is a view:

    3. What are the folder-permissions on the /pub folder on your site? This is set as 777, so I can upload when adding.

I just tried to see if I could call up the file, and it is asking me for a user name and password. Which makes sence. See the problem come at the end, when everything is paid for, and the download link comes up. When I hit that, that is when I get the message 'Sorry. File not found.'

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Cathie

Ok, found the answer. A little trial and error. I had to get rid of everything up to just the zip file name. and it worked. so instead of have "http://yoursite/storename/download/filename.zip" All I put in there was filename.zip and it worked. Thanks for at least trying to help.

Hint, maybe someone should put this in the FAQ page, I am sure someone else might need this.

    Thanks again,
    Cathie

NOTE: on a windows server, you cannot use Redirect ON ...

This means, you never use the /pub directory for anything ...

For security purposes set /pub to 755 since it is not used for anything on your site and this helps tighten up your security ...
