Default Boxes for multi-item orders - Canada Post

    Hi guys,

Any advice on this will be much appreciated.

My store only sells one item, flashing graphic equalizer t-shirts (www.tqualizer.biz)

Many times, customers will order 2 or 3 shirts, and by default it will charge them for shipping each item in its own box...Gets expensive and I'm sure I am losing sales over this.

Is there any way I can configure Zen-Cart to know to ship an order with 2 items in one box, or 3 items in one box, etc, etc?

I can fit two shirts in the same size box that I ship one shirt, so would love to be able to have zen-cart recognize this.

    Thanks!

What do you have set in admin->configuration->shipping/packaging for:

Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship

Try setting that to the weight of two (or however many you want) t-shirts.

I played with that, and currently have it set to 10 pounds for overkill purposes but the quotes are coming up the same.

If someone orders 7 shirts, it puts one shirt in one box and charges them the going rate for 7 individual shipments, whereas if they were in one box the rate is much more reasonable.

What exactly is the weight you have entered for your shirts? - eg. 0.0xx

Just looking at that, the weight is set to .63Lbs each

Might seem an obvious question, but you are entering just the 0.63 and not 0.63Lbs?

I dropped the weight to 0.3 lbs to test, and the shipping figures did NOT change.

Could this have something to do with my Canada Post module?

Hopefully, otherwise we're running out of ideas here

Does the module communicate with Canada Post, or are there any settings in the module in admin that might be having an effect? - I've not used that module.

What happens if you turn that module off and install a different shipping module, then go through checkout with (say) 3 shirts in your cart?

I know it gets the quote directly from the Canada Post server, and there is also an area for boxes on the admin site for Canada Post.

I've added other boxes, and emailed them to figure out how to get it to choose a bigger box based on weight or number of items...hopefully that comes back with a positive answer.

By the sounds of it, zencart appers to be properly configured on my end.

What are the small/medium tare settings for? Does this have anything to do with the problem I'm having?
