left column width and center content problem

Hi,

I've started some layout changes.
First I switched off everything in the right column and made its width 0px from the admin side.

so I only have a left column and center content.

I need the left column to be about 190px to accomodate my menu.
The center content appears to be making it not touch the top of the horizontal menu bar.

Should I remove the table completely and just use divs?

Should I style the left colomn width using my custom stylesheet and ignore the width in the admin side?

That way if I do upgrade then the custom stylesheet will alwas control the width

well first off you need to change the width of the #mainWrapper to 767px to fix the problem of the main content area bumping out past the edge.

Its this statment that is giving you the space at this top above the categories header:

margin-top: 1.5em;
}
