Determine the cheapest shipping rate

Hello to all.

I was wondering if there's a way to find the lowest rate calculated by the shipping modules.

We are currently using UPS and USPS (and later maybe FEDEX too). What we want is to enable only the module with the lowest calculated rate.


For example:

If upon shipping estimation UPS costs $8 (ground) and USPS is $3 (first-class mail), then only the USPS module will be shown and the other modules will be disabled.


Is this possible?

By default all methods will be displayed with lowest-cost item automatically selected....

What if you customer does not want the cheapest (slowest) method and is willing to pay for overnight? Then you would not displaying this option if you do what you have suggested...

Answer is that this is not a setting that you can enable but could be customized if you know enough php to perform a a check and then alter the display of the methods.

All the methods of the shipping company will still be displayed. The customer still has the option of choosing his preferred method of shipping although he can only choose from the options of one company (UPS, USPS or Fedex). Which ever of them has the cheapest rates will be the one to be displayed.

I know php (although i'm not an expert). If you could point me to the right direction (what files to change, settings to set), I believe i can do this.

We have the same opinion. but i don't have a choice. it's what my client wants.

Anyways, i haven't started yet. been busy with other projects.
