Confused about Uloaded images

I am confused. I see I can FTP a batch of pics up. I just can't find them for use when setting up products. For example, I have 20 products, each with it's own same-size pics. When I enter a new product, the only option I have is to UPload a new pic for that product, even though it's been FTP'ed up already. And, I can UPload to selected folder.

If I Browse my Hdrive and UPload a pic for the product, I have an option as to where it should go, but even though I UPload to that folder, it never shows up there (folder is writable).

Is there not a way/means to enter a product and select a pic from a set of folders? For example, I have 5 categories, each with 20 different products. Can I not set up 5 cat-image folders, and FTP 20 pics of each product into their defined Category and when adding a product, select the pic from that Cat folder?

The dropdown is there when in the Add Product window, but that's for UPloading only - isn't there a way to selct and use pics from a selected folder?

There is not a drop selector for this but you can type the path & image name in the box

I'm not that confused. The dropbox is used to UPload a file to a directory chosen via the dropbox, but UPloads don't end up there, and there is no way I can see to use any image in there without dropping out and hand-editing a bunch of php files.

I know that too. What isn't clear is what the dropbox IS for. If I browse my comp (you know - after clicking the BROWSE icon) and I select a file, and have chosen a "Upload to folder" in the dropdown, shouldn't Zen know enough to put the image there and use that image from that folder? The dropbox being there just doesn't make sense otherwise.

I just checked this on an install of mine and selected an image and the matrox sub-folder under image folder from the dropdown > preview > insert.

The image is uploaded to the matorx sub-folder so this works as designed for me. re-check your permissions (777). and try again as this is how it functions.

I'm shocked. I had done exactly as system explains - that is, browsed to file/s, selected the custom folder inside ../images and nothing showed up. Now, after reading above, they do show up. Your magic went beyond the Zen site right to mine - must be Zen :)

Of note, is that I was having problems with intermitent server up/and down. What ever - I'm glad it's working as it should.
