    Default My own navigation?

    Hello.

    I can't figure out how to add my own navigation! I probably would want to modify and replace some of the links in the "Information" box. Or leave it alone and just create my own right above it.
    Also how the heck do I create the links to the appropriate pages??!

    I've tried to follow the EZ page thing thinking that's what I need to do but that got me really confused too.

    Can someone please help

    I'm using a contributed template if it matters...

    thanks

    spooky,

    ezpages is a way to add sideboxes and links....you can also add through addition of and modifying of the php files. In the download area > sideboxes > find the about us, blank, logo, sidebox modules. these have guides and can be modified to your purpose.

    Thanks Cobra...

    I installed the blank sidebox but the problem is the product catagories I inputted are showing there as the only links instead of what I hoped was a blank area appearing where I can manually put my site navigation in.

    In a perfect world I would like the product catagories along the top (tab menu) which I have now, but the custom site navigation along the left column.

    I am confused you state that you "inputted" the categories but that you hoped for a "blank" box???

    The blank box is blank if you do not enter or input anything into it.

    After reading the thread a couple of times I get it......I think.....lol

    Turn off the categories sidebox
    Turn on the ezpages sidebox then go to tools>ezpages and build the ezpages links that you need. The links can be to internal or external pages. Set them to display in the sidebox and give them a sort order >0 and they will show. You can also build ezpages with content of their own or just use it to create links to other pages. the ezpages sidebox will not appear until it has something to display.

    Ah! After quite a bit of time experimenting I think I starting to understand EZpages!

    All that is not working now is the links go to "page not found" and the navigation box has a title called "Important Links", and the new box is below an "Information" box (I want it above it).

    If I can get help below, I think I'll be all set.

    I've created in the EZpages 5 internal links like Home, Items, About Us, Testimonials, Support.

    In each one, from reading the EZpages help section, I need to complete the links by putting something like:
    index.php?main_page=index&cPath=21
    I'm not sure what they mean by adding "index&cPath=21" at the end of the link?? But doing it like index.php?main_page=faq does not work.

    Then for the Important Links heading do I need to edit a php file to name it what I like or not at all?

    How do I get the new box to appear above the Information box?

    kobra... I had added several product names under the catagories in the admin panel (Catalog>Catalog/Products). I did not want them to appear in a sidebox, only at the top as a tab menu which I think I sorted now.

    thanks again

    You have to use a valid link ...

    The GV FAQs is at:
    index.php?main_page=gv_faq

    you can set a sort order for sideboxes in the layout controller, the one with the lower number will display first

    information = 10
    more information = 20
    will display:
    information
    more information

    information = 20
    more information = 10
    will display:
    more information
    information

    If you do not want the categories sidebox displayed, turn it off in the layout controller. I assume you already have the categories showing in the categories tabs on top.

    The "About Us" page is one that you need to created the content in the ez-pages editor and don't add an internal or external link. Just add some content in the big empty box on the ez-pages editor page. The cart will create the link itself. Here is the link to my "about us" page (created with ez-pages):http://www.stabandstash.com/index.ph...id=2&chapter=0

    To rename the title of the box:
    includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/YOUR_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE/ez_pages_definitions.php

    Line #13 : define('BOX_HEADING_EZPAGES','your title here');

    You're alright Barco, I think I'm nailing it now, my box order is good and the About Us page and contents rendered!
    So how then are the pages created for my other links? What do I use for an internal url to link to say my "support" page for example?
    This is confusing...

    Thanks again!

    Just create another ezpage for your "support" and add the content. The cart handles the rest with regards to the link. You have a url we can peek at?
