per unite weight only for some items

How do i enable per unite weight for some items only? Also, I need to disable UPS for these some items. If it's a combination of such items, then the shipping is combined price of both UPS of some of the items, and per unit on the others.

This is not built into Zen Cart at this time and you would need to customize the code to make the calculation in addition to flag the products for which products use what method ...

I dont know if you are in the UK but we had to contend with both weight and dimension pricing. The way I overcome this problem was to change the words from shipping weight to shipping reference. I then created a costed weight table to reflect the prices. A short not in the shipping and returns page explains why this is necessary. It seems to be working ok.
