I want to know if there is a way to set up my shipping module so that the first item is say $5 for shipping and for each additional item its $2. Is there a module for this?

The Per Item shipping will do this:
Handling: 3.00
Shipping Cost: 2.00
This gives you $5.00 on the first item plus $2.00 on each additional item ...
