group discounts wrong discount

i have group discounts set and it was working fine before the reinstall of my files.

at the moment the group i'm trying to put an order through is a 15% group.

the sub total = $315
the group discount (-15%) = $53.39 which should be $47.25

i have it set at 15% in my admin/customers/group pricing

2 problems now

sub total = $420
group discount 15% = $71.19 (should be $63)
quanity discounts 5% = $15.79 (should be $21)

weird how do i go about fixing this problem.

Check your order total sequence in Admin. I had this problem too, until I fixed mine.

What sequence should it be in?

i did a test on a $9.99 product and here are my results

group discount 1
1 x 9.99 = 9.99
group discount 15% = -1.59 or -15.9%(should be 1.50)

quantity discount level 1
5 x 9.99 = 49.95
group discount 15% = -7.94 or -15.9%(should be 7.49)
quantity discounts 5% = -2.50 (this one is bang on)

quantity discount level 2
10 x 9.99 = 99.90
group discount 15% = -15.88 or -15.9%(should be -14.99)
quantity discounts 18% = -17.98 (this one is bang on)

do the quantity module that sw_guy worked on for me is aok just doesn't take into account to ignore attribute differances of the same product.

the group discount module is off by 0.9% then what is displayed in my admin is there an easy way to correct this, or should i just drop my percentage 1% on all groups and just leave it at that

This setup works perfectly for me. I had the same problem as you, you might have found an old thread about it, and these settings were the solution, especially this "re-calculate tax" = none.

i see what was going on now. i think i got it under control, now is there a way to show the after discount taxes? and maybe get rid of the before discount taxes?

This is all determined by your sort order for the order totals module, no?

If you have more than one type of tax, sort them in the correct order, so if there is a tax which the group discount does not apply to, that tax shows up before the group discount and is applied to the pre-group-discount total (group discount recalculate tax=none I think, as I've done mine below). This stuff is a bit hard for me to understand, actually, it gets my head spinning, so don't take my word for how this should work.

It occurred to me after posting my previous message that there are two meanings to "group discount" and I wasn't sure which you were talking about. ZC uses "group discount" to mean a discount that applies to a customer, who is a designated member of that group.

The other meaning is "quantity discount" which you set up in Attributes for a product. Say, if you buy at least 25 of item Z, you get 10% off the price.

I wasn't sure if you were talking about quantity discounts or group discounts.

Thanks for your reply, you wouldn't beleive the time i have with this stuff. Any upgrade gives me headaches, at least i try to back-up everything before doing an add-on now :)

i was talking about both discounts but it seems to me that the reason the group discount was off was because it was calculating the subtotal and the tax which i guess is fine. i'm going to try something and see what happens as i personally don't care about displaying the the pre-discount tax rate.

damb i finally did it, as soon as i change the sorting out to the way i did it manually everything was aok.

sorting order is as listed;

1. sub total
2. group discount (tax false, ship false, re-cal tax standard)
3. quantity discount (tax false, ship false, re-cal tax standard)
4. discount coupon (tax false, ship false, re-cal tax standard)
5. shipping
6. tax
7. total

simple stupid allways works

also by doing this i get a bang on post discount tax number
