Default host problem upload images function

I have a problem with the image folder. I have finally figured out after loading reloading and using different programs. The images folder will not change to 777. The host doesn't see a problem. (fatcow). It Zencart has always worked fine. I noticed everyone having the same problems somewhat (or a few others anyway). Does anyone know what the host needs to do to correct?
I know its not a zencart question. Thnaks in advance if anyone knows what their host did to correct.

Are you having problem uploading images via FTP? Or are you just having trouble with uploading images for new products in your Zen Cart admin panel?

If it is the latter then check Server Info to see if 'File Upload' is enabled. If it's not you're stuffed and need to either get your hosts to enable it or move elsewhere.

If you are having problems uploading via FTP - there should be no need for the 'images' folder to have permissions of more than 755, and the files inside it only need permissions of 644, unless you have some .png files which will need higher permissions.

Thanks for the response. The host had to reset the php.ini file to enable uploads to the uploads_temp folder, in order for zencart to upload via the admin panel. I could ftp fine (ws ftp). It was setting the permissions on the folder. Even though it said 777 it would revert back to 644 as soon as I closed the window. Zencart works perfectly now.
    Thanks again.
