Default Confused beyond belief: Paymentech Module

Well, I managed to find a good deal of threads concerning the elusive Paymentech module and am now kind of looking for its exact whereabouts.

I tried downloading the module from the hefty thread here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...ght=paymentech

    but got a 404 error.

Any help on just finding this pesky thing would be greatly appreciated, I would like to start messing with it and what not.

    Thank you!

I sooooooo know what you mean. There are at least two other broken links and no one answers the emails, post ect about it. Wish we could drum up some better support, I mean it's just for the Orbital Gateway for a little bank like CHASE. (Mastercard, American Express, Discover ad naseum. Any support?)

Anyway to my knowledge this worked with Zen 1.3, I upgraded to 1.3.6 and I think I broke it. (There are some fixes in 1.3.7, I think may and I say may fix it, so I will be upgrading tomorrow.) I just upgraded last month and now here I go again! Since some of the fixes in 1.3.7 involve PHP 5.0 fixes and XLS security fixes (this Paymentech mod is all about XML) It would probably be a good idea to upgrade. Be forwarned though, one major problem is that it does not so far have any form to enter a CC, so I think that has to be fixed. (I'm hoping it'something I did and a clean reinstall of it and my mods will work it out.)

Here is the only link I know of for the latest: http://jeffmarsh.net/download/paymentech_v2.zip

When you unzip it you will find that the Classes folder is empty, put the files:
    element.inc.php
    doc.inc.php
    node.inc.php
treecomp.inc.php into the Classes folder leave the minixml.inc.php in the Includes folder.
Then rename anything file name like paymentech_v2.php to paymentechv2.php. Do that to all the files (theres only a few) Then install per the readme.

The files your moving are the miniXML Jeff used (he forgot to place them in the Class folder (dont move the minixml), and for some reason PHP goes batty with errors when it encounters a "_" in the filenames. So far as I know it did work in 1.3 Zen, but now it looks like the Form Methods (for the CC card number in the checkout page) have changed as of 1.3.6? I'm not sure. I am sure that they did have at least some of the zen_Methods were documented in the Forums/ Wiki but now I can't find it. Jeff doesn't support this either (or at least he does not answer his emails......
Anyway hope this helps, let me know if you get yours working, I'll do the same here. I'm so confused beyond belief.......again

One correction, I forgot about that, PHP calls paymentech.php not paymentechV2, so loose the '_V2 when you rename those files.

doesn't paymentech just use authorize.net? i remember when i was on the search for a gateway they told me they use auth.net.. not sure if your plan is like that to.. if they do use it then its already built in :)

Oh wow! Thank you! I just about gave up on this thing and haven't been around to check on this thread. Thank you for the link and the info, now I shall get into the lab and start experimenting. Thank you!

As for auth.net and Paymentech: yes, they are one in the same, but if you have an orbital/virtual terminal account you need still need to sign up for a authorize.net account. I called their techs to see if there was some loop hole to get around using the paymentech module (as it couldn't be found) and instead somehow use the built in auth.net module, but there was no such loop hole to be found.

Unless you go through the process of getting an Authorize.net account, of course.

Has anyone been able to get the Paymentech module to work with 1.3.7 yet? I cannot even get it to show up on the menu... Not sure what can be wrong as I have followed the instructions I believe to the 't'.. Any help would be appreciated..
    Regards,

Well - this isn't promising :) I just signed on with "versapay" in Canada, which uses the orbital/paymentech system. So I come on here to see the hundreds of others that have done the same thing.... and this is the best I find :) a handful of people like me that don't really know what they're doing hoping that something will work. Yikes.

I'm not sure how authorize.net comes in... is that a seperate "layer" with more fees associated with it? The people at VersaPay assured me there were no other "gateway" fees required, so long as I could modify my site sufficiently to work with their service. I thought it would be no problem, because I figured with rates as good as theirs, that there would be tons of folks with zencarts that used them.

    Guess not.

I tried installing the paymentech_v2 module on a ZC 1.3.7 install, but it didn't seem to work.

Instead I'm working on porting the most recent update (Oct, 2007) of the OS Commerce Paymentech module for a client. Remind me in a week or two to post my results/experiences.

I hired it out and started from scratch and got a working module for 1.3.7.

Right out of the box, it assumes you have only USD or CAD or both but no other currencies. You can have a separate merchant ID for each currency, or one for both (I have one for each so the currency stays native rather than losing money on conversions). It has a testing mode, but you have to have a testing account with them (which has a dedicated testing merchant ID). What else... well, it works. It passed their certification checks on the first try and I've been using it in production for a few days now with no bugs.

It is set up for either Auth or Auth/Capture only. Refunds, voids, etc can't be done via the module - you have to log into your Virtual Terminal to do that. Although, it wouldn't be too hard to incorporate that into the system but I don't void/refund all that much so I didn't bother.

Here's the kicker... We spent good money on having it developed. I'm not sure I can convince my partners that we should release it for nothing. However, I personally think we've gotten enough good out of this community that it would be the least we could do but its not my call alone.

    I'll talk to them.

    Hi Steven,

That's fantastic! Thanks for taking the extra effort to talk to your partners about it. If it means anything, we would probably be willing/able to add the refund feature during a phase 2 round of our current project. That's definitely a feature we'd want to give back to the community.

    Take care,
    Cameron
