Not sure that this would even be possible, but know if it is someone here will be able to tell me.

Basically I will sell 4 types of items in my store and what I would like to do is have 2 different write a review modules. 1 that I could customize to say something along the lines of rate the difficulty of this project for 1 main catagory( I figured out to do get this one to say what I want it to) and one that works as the standard write a review for the other three main catagories I would further like to be able to control in the admin panel which main cataogy each write a review works with.

Having only a bare minnimum understanding of PHP I am not sure how big a project this would be... any suggestions or direction would be greatly appreciated

If this "different" review will always be for all itmes in a category it will be easier to hard code this for this cat only over trying to make it a selection in the admin. While this is also possible it is far more work.

You would find the files that display the writ a review and add a conditional for the excluded category.

Thanks... That makes sense to hard code it for just the one catagory excluding that one from the main module... It might be a bit over my head, but I'll give it a whirl
