Want to have a product that can be dloaded, shiped box, or both

So I set everything up with attributes, etc..

I have three radio buttons, one for dload only, one for box ship only and another for both dload and ship box.

So if I set shipping to "Special Product/Download" the download only attribute forces a shipment. If I set shipping to "No, Normal Shipping Rules" the download and ship attribute does not get a shipping option.

Is there a way around this?

Make sure that in the Shipping/Packaging that 0 weight is set to Free shipping ...

Set the Product as:
Special, Product/Download Combo Requires a Shipping Address

Set the Attributes to have weight when the Product is actually part of the order, as in:
Product and Download
Product Only

Set no weight for the:
Download Only

See if this works properly for you ...

Well, my dload only option is down to 0 lbs, but it still prompts the shipping charges dialogue, and now has "FREE SHIPPING" listed as an option, but the default is UPS ground for $3.97, even though it weighs nothing.

Always Free Shipping:
Special, Product/Download Combo Requires a Shipping Address

Product Weight: 0

Add attributes ...

Add weight on attributes that will be sending the Product and 0 weight for the one that is just the download ...

Check the Shipping/Packaging and set 0 weight means Free shipping ...

Check the Modules ... Shipping ... and that
Free Shipping freeshipper

is installed ...

Make sure only the 2 attributes that include the download have the download filename on them with the green dot ...

OK, got all of that, and we are much closer now.

I get FREE SHIPPING on my download only, and its not there when the attribute adds weight, so at least there is a way for the customer to choose free shipping when they dload only... BUT

Dload only still has the UPS shipping table below the FREE SHIPPING option, and the default radio button is UPS Ground, so the user has to select free shipping to get it. AND, why does the UPS table even show up when there is no weight to the order? We are using the UPS XML module BTW.

I'd just like for it to skip shipping altogether if there is no weight.

OK, now, by changing the sort order of free shipping to below UPS XML, free shipping is now the default selection, YAY!

Now, one more little hint to get rid of the UPS table altogether, and I'll feel I'm close enough!

All the way done would be to skip shipping altogether if there is no weight, but free shipping as the default, with no ups table below is good enough for gov't work!

Yeah, I see its just a limitiation. Would be GREAT if skip shipping was settable at the attribute level though.

That way, the user could select download only, and not be presented with a shipping option, which of course makes no sense.

No, I have it working where I only see Free shipping unless the physical product is on one of the attributes ...

And when there is no physical product requiring shipping, then there are no other shipping modules showing ...
