Default No images appear / price input in GBP??

    Hi everyone,

some real basic questions I havent managed to find answers to ( i have been trawling but other's questions are slightly different to what i've got goin on ) -

    1) when i upload images when inputting an image, they do not appear (they appear as a broken link ) and then they do not appear on the site either, just leave a blank space and when you click to open a bigger version it opens a blank space in a popup.

I checked the folders and managed to find the image id uploaded had been succesfully uploaded.. so not sure why it doesnt work.

    2) i am a uk user and wish to place my prices into the system in pounds, ive managed to go into scripts and set the default for the public site as GBP but its still not letting me input the price in pounds into the product price in admin. any UK users shed any light?

    many thanks,

    Caroline

you would set your default to GBP. now your currency symbles will show the correct icon. all you have to do is enter the price in the product editing page. DONT use any of the symbols, or anything, just standard price, it SHOULD show you everything perfect on the catalog side.

    hope this helps.

as for your images... im not sure... check permissions on the images folder? make sure its able to work with them?

you may need to wait for someone who knows a bit more than i to get an answer about this.

When you say "you would set your defaults to GBP" this isnt really telling me anything new, I need to know HOW to do that, I know thats what I want to do!

I've set the defaults for the page to show them in the scripts, as I said, but what im entering in the admin product entry still appears incorrectly - eg. I enter 5.00, in pounds it appears on the site translated from 5 dollars as £2.something. Get what I mean now? And no im not entering any "symbols" for pounds or anything..

Images wise, I've checked permissions on the images folder, this is correctly read write as it should be so not sure whats going on there still...

you would set your defaults to GBP
BACKUP your site and database before commencing!!
    Log in as admin
    Localization
    Currencies
    Click GB Pounds
Scroll down page, right hand site
    Box..tick for set as default.
    Save.
    Go back to GBP
    Set value to 1.0000
    Save.. try entering product now
If all correct, and your site is only
going to accept GBPounds, no point keeping other currencies installed

Re: No images appear / price input in GBP??

    Hi Misty,

thanks for the help, thats sorted my pricing, but my images still arent appearing (I checked permissions, seems fine) and I also have issues with shipping. I installed the big royal mail module, and having put in a comic as a test for 4.99, with a weight of 0.25kgs, it estimates weights rather oddly, please see the attached screengrab for details

    cheers,

    Caroline

Re: No images appear / price input in GBP??

ok i never realised that this forum resized images so impossibly tinily. so here is another version with just the popup shipping estimates details. As you can see all it offers is some silly payment of 11.54 for a 3.25 kgs package, which as you can see, this is definitely not. Would it be best to offer a flat rate of shipping? we're selling comics 1 at a time (if not a few at a time) so would that work?

Also, how can we restrict purchases to the uk? (to allow for the fixed rate of postage)
