red flag Simple math is looney

    Zen Cart 1.2.6

    On check out for instance,

    ($9 + $2)

    + $8.12 shipping
    --------------------
    $1.29 Tax

    My calculator reads 20.41

But zencart adds it as $20.42 . . . . WHAT GIVES . . this is fifth invoice the accountant has sent to us with this issue and others.

The other issue I had earlier after the install was it was adding with some crazy method of product price then tax then subtracting a discount, when it should always be tax on the total price not what it was before discounts . . . who figured out the math for this thing??

Is this common? If so I need to change to a different cart. Please let me know.

    Thanks.

Perhaps the explanation I made in the following post about how Zen Cart calculates the taxes may be of help to you?

OK so I read your post, and it still makes no sense.

If I am showing the customer an invoice that reads . . .

    Sub: $11.00
    UPS: $8.12
    NC Tax: $1.29

    Then TOTAL: $20.42

    That makes no sense . . .

I can add those numbers all day and get 20.41 all day . . .

If I break down into calculating tax on each individual item then tax on shipping and add those together I get $1.2906 which does not round to $1.30 in any sense. And if it is rounding it to $1.30 why doesn't it show that on the order. I mean pretty much any body can add these days and my clients customers seem to be doing just that. And if you show them a set of numbers with a total that is off then your messing up.

IS THERE ANYWAY TO FIX THIS??
