Update Item vs. Add another one

Hello all,

I was wondering if there is a way to update an item that is already within your shopping cart without adding a new one? I've got some products that have a lot of options and am finding customers going back to make changes, only to add a second item to their cart.

Is there a way around this?

Not at this time, the only option is to remove the 'old' and add a new.
