    Default Newbie Needs Help Please!

    Hi,

    I am not new to web design although I'm by no means an expert - but I have spent the better part of the past week just trying to do a few simple layout/graphics changes, have followed the online/forum/wiki instructions to the letter and NOTHING has worked!!

    Most important:

    1) replacing the "powered by.." logo with my own of course, and changing the graphic behind that, and

    2) changing the main Zen Cart branding such as the browser title bar, etc. so it's not overpowering the whole site

    Can someone please tell me what I'm missing? I've tried everything!! I did mess up once and accidentally wrote over my backups but had my web host tech send me the files (english and header) to replace, the only problem with that is that the site search buttons have the wrong title, but I think I even fixed that in the code, it was missing a space, but nothing I do seems to actually upload or make any change at all with my storefront. I changed the text so I know I'm at least making contact today. I'm stumped - and desperately need to get my products out there because I have people that want to buy them!! I've just given up and don't have any more time to keep trying.

    While I'm putting myself out there I would be satisfied with just those changes, but would be most happy if I could change the color of the box headers, etc. from green to black or anything else that would go with my logo (it's on the page to see).

    URL: www.LaurelsJewelryArt.com (there's a rudimentary temporary contact page there now with a link to a photo album but store not linked yet)

    store: /zencart - custom directory called "ljadefault"

    Thank you so much,

    Laurel

    You state that you have a custom directory at ljadefault

    but looking at your source this is what and where the template is being parsed(highlighted in red):
    Code:
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet_css_buttons.css" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print" href="includes/templates/classic/css/print_stylesheet.css" />
    Have you edited the template_info.php for your ljadefault template? And then in the admin > tools > template selection > selected it and then reset the sideboxes there also?

    If you are making changes to your ljadefault template files, these are not being read and parsed at this time.

    Hi everyone,

    It seems after all I went through it was only about an hour after I posted this I discovered the issue of starting out with the classic vs. the default_template - and of course I discovered I was using the classic. I don't know if this has any bearing on the changes to the files that DID work before and then stopped parsing, but after my discovery I took the steps and changed over to the default template. Then during further investigation I found a developer template which accomplishes almost everything I wanted to do with the site and will be installing that also before I move forward.

    I just ran out of time and the holiday is now upon us. At this point let me spend a day with the new template after the holiday and see if that fixes my problems. I don't see any point in anyone spending any time on my question until then as I have already replaced all my files with raw templates. I will post another message with the results of my second attempt, as I have promised many that this store to be at least operational in a week. Let's hope that message says everything is fine and I no longer need help.

    Until then THANK YOU for your reply to my post, I feel so much more secure in becoming a Zenner knowing that such knowledgable and prompt help is out there. Thanks again!

    Laurel
