Default I want maximum weight limit trigger link 1.3.6

    Hi everyone,

Almost done. I'm trying to figure out how to reach a maximum weight in the shipping estimator after which a link or text displays saying something like "Call us to discuss shipping options."

    Is this possible?

I'm using the MZMT mod on 1.3.6. Currently my table is making screwy calculations after 9000 grams with maximum set to 10000 in conf>shipping>max

My table zones look like this:

    0:1800,1000:2350,2000:2900,3000:3450,4000:4000,5000:4550,6000:5100,7000:5650,800 0:6200,9000:6750

Should I read this > 0 grams to 1,000 is 1800 yen. > (or equal to I've learned) is 1000 grams to 2000 is 2350 yen.

    Bit confused. Thanks.

I believe that this works out to be 0-999 and 1,000-1,999 but could be wrong.

As you have set a MAX of 10,000 in the admin this refers to the maxium single package weight and calculates the # of packages that the order will be split into on a even split basis by default. Changing this would be very involved.

    Thanks Kobra for the reply.

I have set everything as you mentioned. It's the best choice. I have also given the last table entry a 99999 limit which then calculates some rediculously expensive shipping rate which should trigger the customer to contact me-something I am trying to prevent.

What does everyone else do? Same thing?

As I believe, most stores have many items that are in the low weight class 0-20lbs, and most US shippers will ship up to 50lbs per package. Most store owners do not attempt to place a limit on the volume purchased, opting to send as many boxes/packages as required to accomodate any order and charge accordlingly.

Do you have single items that would trip your weight limit?
If not what is your rationale of wanting to limit the weight of what a customer can purchase?

    Thanks again Kobra.

I'll be selling dishes. Usually, customers may order a few, but if a customer orders many and the weight reaches say 30 kilos, then I want to be able to handle the order personally in order to ensure there are no problems.

    Does that make sense?

As you can have all orders emailed to you, you can then manually look for those that are over your trip weight and handle as you wish. Besides, all orders have to be processed by some individual and you can have internal procedures to personally handle those over the trip limit.

Hi Kobra. I really appreciate your time.

This is what I want to do. My problem is that when the use the shipping estimator or when the shipping is calculated and reaches the "limit" with the above variables, the amounts come out too high or or too low. I would simply like the customer to be told that, at said limit, the order would go into personal handling and that we cannot calculate shipping at this time. A message would be displyed telling them what to do.

    Can this be done?

My question about everyone else relates to what happens when their customers reach the maximum weight.

You can see what I am talking about on my site by going to *** Sorry I'm not stringing it together because of search engines.

If you have looked at many posts here, you should come away with the fact that most anything can be accomplished. So the short answer to your question is Yes. But this is not a Default feature in this or any cart that I am aware of and will require some additional coding with if > else conditionals, and this in general is not an item that can be tutored in the fashion of change this & that and you will get what you want.

I guess that I was not as clear as I could have been, and actually still do not fully comprehend your issue.

What others mostly do for products in your weight range is allow the standard shipping calculator to split the order into individual boxes, each under the maximum weight limit. This is for many reasons but the main one is the psychology that if a shopper cannot get all the details while online they go elsewhere and this you want to avoid. I do not see where this should not be configurable for you, having setup EMS tables for other items.

Hmmm. Boxes. So can I set up say 5 kilos per box and then set a limit as to how many boxes can be sent? Could you tell me how to set up this limit?

    Your help is very appreciated.

Yes you can set up 5kilos per box. But then why woud you want to limit the number of boxes sent???

If a customer wants to buy enough product that would require say 20 or 100 boxes, why would you want to place a limit on this. Are you not in business to SELL?
