Layout box help needed

Please don't laugh too hard when reading this but I am having a problem adding the specials sidebox from the admin to my index page. I am clicking "on" and "right", figured something would work but it hasn't. Please help.

Did you try clicking on the sidebox you wish to configure and then on the Edit button to make the changes?

Yes, I clicked on sideboxes/specials.php in the admin, clicked edit and thried to turn on and off and left and right and sort order, it just doesn't want to appear.

You do, of course, have specials setup that can display ... right?

Otherwise, there is nothing to show in the specials sidebox so neither that nor the specials link in the categories sidebox will show ...

Oh man. Sorry for your time. At least now I know what the problem is, I need to be smarter than the software i'm using.

I knew it was one of the two ... but I posted the first possibility thinking perhaps you thought the words were hot ... and mearly lost your mind ...

Then went for the second possibility ... the magic of Zen ... why show it if it ain't out there ...

There are a lot of things that work this way and more and more are becoming smarter and automatic ...

Thanks for the update that your lack of specials was the reason your specials sidebox and special link in the categories sidebox could not show ...
