My eyes are buggin' after going thru dozens of threads here on this subject and it seems the more I read, the more confusing it gets...
If someone can provide an idiot-proof (with me being the idiot) explanation I'll be eternally indebted to you...
Using ZC v.1-3-6
We have an assortment of various products, mostly DVD's and shipping is continental US to all states - based on WEIGHT of the item with a sliding scale - the more quantity added of any item the higher the total shipping charge.
I set the MINIMUM shipping charge at $2.95 under the packaging/shipping module in Configuration - based on the premise that this would be for any and all items - up to 1 LB.
Lets say the customer orders 10 items and EACH item weighs 0.5 lbs, the total weight would be 5 lbs.
Using the 2.95 as the base shipping charge -
How do I set the shipping module to charge the base $2.95 PLUS a rate of lets say $1.00 -just for kicks and grins- thereafter for EACH additional LB or fraction thereof - like a sliding scale - in this case, for all items this customer ordered which adds up to 5 lbs ... ? The total would be $2.95 + $4.00 = $6.95
That would also mean I have to set the weight on each item in the product description page, right ?
I looked at the Enable Per Weight Unit Shipping under the shipping module but its just not making any sense -
It says:
The shipping cost will be used to determin shipping charges based on: Product Quantity * Units (products_weight) * Cost per Unit - in an order that uses this shipping method.
There is a box and a number 1 in it .... meaning what?
Then there is the other box that says:
Handling Fee
Handling fee for this shipping method.
- and there is a 0 in it... ???

Any suggestions ?
