Sort Order on Categories

Can I remove the sort oder on my category listing on the left nav and same with the main page?

admin > catalog > Categories / Products > t the right there is a column titled "Sort" and each category has a value edit each and assign a numerical value to the sort order i.e. 10, 20, 30, etc.. this will allow you to insert in the future, another one without having to edit them all
