Product Price showing wrong

I have admin (Configuration, My Store) set-up to display price with tax set to false; I even removed all my Tax set-up; but when I put price of 4,500.00 into a product it shows price of $5,278.67!
What am I missing????

"Switch To Default Language Currency" and change the value to true

I had a similar problem - and actually managed to solve it on my own !......and very proud of myself too !

Basically the program out of the box is US and when I typed in a GBP £ 3.95 it came out as £2.20 or something. Using the info' from above I went to currencies and updated the exchange rates - which brought GBP to 1.000000 and therefore my prices are correct. Previously it had been operating as showing a $/£ conversion.
