    Default Use of sidebar

    Hi Guys

I developed an ecommerce shop for Wordpress that is now showing its limitations. I need to use a different cart. I am looking here!

Basically I need a cart that I can have add-ons and variants together with related items. However, I would like to be able to style those items separately and place them using floats and css. i.e. Related items in a sidebar, etc.

Is this possible with Zen Cart please? I know I could load up Zen Cart and try it out but answering these questions would save me time.

    Many thanks.

    Rich

What you are requesting is possible using zencart.
You can try programme online at

I agree with Misty. To the extent that you describe your requirement, Zen Cart can handle it.

Indeed two of Zen cart's strengths are the ease with which it can be extended by add-ons or custom code (yes there's a learning curve, but once you're over it, there's not a lot you can't do) and the removal of all but one layout table in favour of CSS for styling giving you an unusual amount of flexibility in layout and design (and even the one remaining table can be easily removed by anybody with a basic knowledge of php and some CSS skills).

    Hi

I have now uploaded the site design and would like to incorporate the design into Zen Cart.

    <http://www.efe-gbnets.com/>

The above is the site location. Do I simply follow the template instrcutions please?

    Thanks

    Hi

In fact what I want to do is to create a site exactly as seen and then put my own links in the various nav menus and only use dynamic link creation and placing of content into certain areas.

    Is this possible please?

    Thanks

Yes, you can do this. The tool to use is EZ-Pages which allows you not only to create HTML pages integrated into Zen Cart, but even more usefully (in my view) create menus which include links to your EZ-pages, other Zen Cart pages and pages external to the Zen Cart and to mix and order them as you wish.

    Hi Kuroi

Thanks for the reply and I will ring soon! Very busy!

Could you take a look at this site:
    http://woodland.lostwithiel.org.uk/

You will see in the sidebar I have created a page called Menu. If you click on that you will see the custom menu in action.

But how do I get this to show up in the sidebar. I know I can basically say don't show anything in the sidebar. But if I can only paste this code somewhere bingo it will work. Maybe I am missing this part of the ezpages!

    Thanks

    Rich

    Sorry Rich

I can't see the menu page in the sidebar. Can you clarify where you would like me to look?

    Hi

Sorry I had a flash of inspiration and realised I could just place the code directly in the template file. I then turned ezpages off - hence the missing menu page. However, in order for the code to stay I have to have something turned on in the right column. I have turned on the search facility but would love to turn it off. Is it possible please?

Any ideas on the gap at the top of the image on the home page please?

    Thanks.

    Rich
