Database question

I got the dumbest answer from my web host concerning a question I asked. When I back up the zc1 database for my store, am i copying the products, script or a combo of both? His reply was "Downloading a batabase backup only includes the database." Was his answer as bad I am assuming or am I just a complete moron. I just want to keep a back up of the store, in case something happens.

When he said that you are backing up only your database ... he meant all of the data such as products, customers, setttings, manufacturers etc.

But that this does NOT include any of your files such as the Zen Cart code or images on your site ...
