Processing Downloads before they're available

Hello & Merry New Year!

We have many many downloads in our Zencart and since we added the CC module we have gotten burned a number of times when a customer checks out with an expired or non-existent card and then is transferred to their download page.

Is there a way we can set all downloables up so that they are not available for download until they are paid for? Is any method like this also able to recognize a verfied PayPal payment as "authorized for download?

Zen Cart normally doesn't release downloads until payment is properly received -- provided you have configured your payment modules and downloads settings properly.

What version of Zen Cart are you using?
What are your settings under Admin->Configuration->Attribute Settings ?
What payment module are you using when these orders are processed?
Inside that payment module, what "Order Status" have you selected?
Under Admin->Localization->Orders Status, what status codes do you have configured? Which one is "default" ?
