Button error in Windows XP

Hello,

Very strange thing happens on my computers when I open a directory called "buttons" the File Browser in Windows Xp blocks.
Also for example when I want to open a button in Photoshop using the File Browser Photoshop blocks.

Same problem with CuteFTP: when uploading a button directory Cute FTP blocks.
No error message, it just shuts down.

I have the same problem on several computers. The problem is in Windows Xp and Pro.

I know Windows XP isn't the best OS but I have to work with it.

Has anyone the same problem? What's the solution?

Drwatson postmortem seems to be related with this problem.
Somewhere my computers must be infected with something

Norton and Panda doesn't seem to help.
