Product Customization USPS Media Mail

Hey guys this is my first post so go easy on me. I have looked everywhere for the answer to this but have not found a solution.

We sell a number of books and DVD's on our site and would like to allow the customer to select Media Mail as an option.

The only problem is that we also sell some apparel and other non Media Mail related items. I have not been able to figure out how to configure the cart so that Media mail will only appear if it is a book, DVD or any combination thereof.

If you could please point me in the right direction I would be very grateful!!

products table? Sorry I am still trying to learn the cart and am not to sure what you are talking about. If you can direct me as to where to find this I would appreciate it...

Looking at the data that you enter into the Catalog ... Products/Categories ... for each Product ...

How would I "know" that a given Product is a DVD or Book ... or anything else that qualifies for Media Mail?

I don't believe so. When I go to to Catalog>Categories/Products I have them categories, but when i select a product i doestn't seem to have anything I can select as to what type of product it is.

What would be easiest is to add a new field to the products table called products_is_media and that can be set per Product ...

Then a function can be made to see if the order is only products_is_media or mixed ...

If mixed, then the media shipping can be turned off as an option for that order ...

This would take some custom coding but it could be done ...

Has anyone figured out how to do this yet?

While I'm fairly experienced at PHP, I just started using Zen Cart. I'm hoping someone here has enough experience with zen-cart and/or the USPS shipping module specifically to point me to where (which file, roughly where in the file) I would add the code to check to see whether an item is media. I created an Attribute called "IsMedia" and am hoping to use it for my function.

I've never jumped into the shipping module code deep enough to have any idea where to add code to check.
