Create User account - Getting 500 Error

I'm having a major problem with users trying to create an account.

When someone goes to checkout and they are a new user they are asked to complete a create account form. When they submit the form, the user gets a 500 error page. The user account is actually created, and they can then log in, but this certainly won't work for business. I need to resolve this issue quickly, either by fixing the resulting page or by not requiring the user to create an account.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's what I'm getting in the errorlog:

I opened up includes/classes/class.phpmailer.php - didn't seem corrupt[FONT=monospace]

I'm having the same problem. Upon creating account I get a 500 error. However, the account is actually created as I can log in.

I'm using a fresh install of the latest version of Zen Cart with the appropriate version of the UK Language template applied.

I've changed very little else. I've added a few zone definitions, and switched the 'State Dropdown' to 'on' by default (I've tried switching this back to off but it makes no difference).

I have a copy of a previous version of zen-cart on the same server (without the UK language template) and that's working fine.

I've figured out what's causing the problem. I've been using fake email addresses for testing purposes. It seems that I only get the 500 error when I try to create an account using an invalid email address. If I use a valid address it works fine.

No doubt I can tweak some settings and get around the problem by not validating email addresses. But it looks as if this might be a bug??

I was using real email addresses with mine. I eventually found the solution to my problem as well. In the ZenCart backend, I went to configuration -> E-mail options. On the first line, "Email Transport method", I tried the different options and found that if I select PHP, everything works fine. So it seems that for me, I had the email send misconfigured. You might want to try different options for yours in case you don't want people to get a 500 error if they accidentally enter a bad email address.
