Image background

Is it possible to add and image that serves as a background to the product images. I am referring to a white or transparent image that would keep all images the same size even when they aren't. If I have an item that is only 70px wide and another that is 100px they are both the same size using a background image behind them. I know you can set the image size, but that is not what I need. I hope I'm explaining this correctly.

One way that you probably don't want to hear is to use a graphic app and create a mat of a size for your pics and drop you images on this and save.

I normally do this for the highest qual image usins PS and an action to semi automate. The also using actions create the small & medium images.

I did that for some of them in Adobe PS. Mainly the images for my categories, but talk about time consuming. I was hoping to place an image as a background similar to what you might do for a sidebox or table to retain it's size and or shape. I believe the product display is in a table format, so I thought maybe I could do it. But...I don't seem to be able to.

Yes. Somewhat. That is more for the product details. I would also like to do that as well, but I mean for the product listing images. Just the image no other details. If you visit this page:

All the images are different sizes. Width as well as height. I would like to have something already there as a background to make all the images appear the same size. This way all the rows are equal in height. The new template I'm working on has a dark background and the different sizes will really stand out.
Even if I made a cell or something like that with a defined size and a white background just for behind the images.

I just added a <div> around the images I wanted to put a background behind. Some of them had to be done in the module that builds a certain part of the page though. You will have to look at the specific code for the specific section, but it can be done and usually with an override too.
