Menu Layout, Moving from left to centre, with images

Hi everyone.

Im in desparate need of help, i know what i want (well, need) to do, though i just dont know how to do it, and its driving me mad!.

Basically, my store is a furniture store, which is only EVER going to have 6 subcategories of stock, being "dining","lighting","bedrooms","Accessories,"Living"and "Web Offers" (offers being a category of stock also, nothing to do with the "specials" built into zencart). They want images for each category in 2 rows and 3 columns in the center, and iv no idea how to do it.

At the minute the website looks like this



though im trying to get it to look like this



With the menu with the categories on (currently on the left) in the center, with 6 images (blue boxes) leading to the main page of the sub categories.

Any help would be really appreciated, as iv looked through 20 pages+ (at least) of posts, used the search function and havent found anything which will help me get it exactly the way i need it, and times running out on my end

In the Admin Panel, go to

Configuration --> Layout Settings

Then edit the setting called "Categories - Always Show on Main Page"

Change it from 0 to 1.

Then, turn of the Categories sidebox in the Admin as well.

Tools --> Layout Boxes Controller
