Quick Questions on showcase mode and images and inventory

Just a quick question I'm sure the answer is easy but I can't seem to find it.

1)How can I turn of the number of units in stock on my website product pages, as I'm just going to use it as a showcase of my products until I've built up some web trafic before I can justify puting the shopping cart in.

2)And the second question is the images optimization I upload a rather large picture for most of my products (500px X 500px) so people get a good indication of what the product really looks like but the smaller images still maintain the atributes of the larger images is there any way of uploading smaller images for the index pages and keeping larger images for product pages.

Because in Ireland alot of places still only have dial up access and the speed and optimization of my website is important.

If you want a showcase without prices you can flick the switch in your admin panel:

configuration->store status


If you only want the quantities hidden:

configuration->product listing->display product quantity

you might then also want to look at the settings in:

configuration->stock


As for images you probably want to add image handler to your cart. Just search for the thread in the community contributions area of the forums.

Stock or quantity shows in several places ...

Each location has its own setting for customization:
Product Listing

New Listing

Featured Listing

All Listing

Product types each have their own control as well for the product _info pages:
Catalog ... Product Type ...
Click the Product Type
Click the Edit Layout
Turn off the Show Quantity ...

Repeat for each Product type that you use ...

The Product Listing settings only affect the Product Listing ...

To change the display of fields on the Product _info page for a specific Product Type go to the Catalog ... Product Type ...

Click on the Product Type ... such as Product General

Click on Edit Layout ...

Now turn off what you do not want to see on the product _info page ...
