Another Sale Question

I run an online clothing store and my client asked if we could run a sale on a particular manufacturer. When I go into Salemaker it only gives you an option to run the sale on certain categories. Is there a way to run a sale on certain items or manufacturer? It seems like this should be an obvious thing but I don't know. Thanks in advance.

tell me if this would work. I create a category called 10% off and apply 10% off to everything in it. If I link products to that category will it apply 10% off to those products? Also, will it apply 10% off to the product when it exists in its original category?

Yes, you could do that.

The only problem with that is for the 10% to apply to the product its master category has to be the 10% category. That means I have to link 100's of products to the 10%, make that their master category and then after a week when the sale is over move them all back. That is just not feasible. Is there anything out there similar to what I am looking for, like an add-on or anything. I'd gladly write code for this but I am just not familiar enough with zencart php to write original code like that.
