Default Major Email Problem: some send, some don't

I was wondering if you can help me with a problem I'm having with Zencart emails. Some emails are sending/some are not, as follows:

    Order Confirmation/Status emails send fine
Contact Us Form Emails send fine

but, none of these mails send at all:

    Welcome emails
    Newsletters
    Emails sent to specific customers
    Product Notifications
    Low stock notices

I am running the latest version of ZenCart (just downloaded last week).

I'm really tearing my hair out over this, as I have a very tight deadline to get this store up, and I can't seem to get it working right.

    Thanks!

What are your settings in Admin> Configuration> Email Settings?
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

    Thanks, Dr. Byte...

Before I get into making these changes, let me just make sure I understand:

Even if these settings were wrong, they would still allow all "Contact Us" emails to come through fine, as well as all Order Confirm and Order Status mails?

    Thanks!

    Anything is possible.

Every hosting configuration is uniquely set up. There are patterns, but I'm sorry, there's no logical rhyme/reason for "some" being sent properly and some not.

    Default same problem...

I have the exact same problem... My cart version is 1.3.6 with image-handler_2.0 and newsletter_subscribe installed. Has anyone found the solution?

With my 1.3.7 I am getting contact emails through ok -whatever the my email config is.

But like others, the newsletter or a manual email from admin won't go through, ever. I tried sendmail, sendmail-f, php

My host is advising me that they have an issue with scripts, if the script calls more than 2Mb (presumably of memory) the server kills the script.

Since the email function works 'behind the scenes', is there any way of getting it to tell me if it completes? I get the green line at top of my admin page after a manual email is sent..
'Notice: Email sent to: (me)@virgin.net (1)',

so can I get the email function to tell me how much memory it used, or more other useful info? I already have emails logged, so I know that part works.

In my case, the mail server always seems unhappy about what it gets told to do..

    Hareslade,
2Meg sounds quite low to me. Default is normally 8meg, and for quite a few packages you have to set it to 16 at least.
You could try adding the following to .htaccess

    php_value memory_limit [new memory limit]

where the memory limit is in bytes - so 4meg is 4096000 etc etc

If that causes a 500 server internal error, then no you can't change it.

You could also try a change to php.ini if you have a local php.ini for your site.
    Add

    ini_set ( "memory_limit", "8M");

    or similar.

Or you can try a php.ini in your site base directory with

    memory_limit = 4096000

Unfortunately, none of this will work if your hosting service has disabled.

    Chuck
