Help with categories and sub categories

Hi can someone help me , its really simple help but i cannot do it lol. I have main categories and then subcategories in that.

For example : bikes -> Trek -> mountainbikes

heres a link :

on this link i would like to see on the main page all the sub listings of dawes, for example :

city bicycles
comfort cycles
etc.....

when i click on bikes in the main menu i want to show the different bike maunfactures with a pictures of each, for example giant, dawes , raleigh etc. But at the moment i have only got featured items showing , can someone show me how to do it

under 1 post i see to look at product listing but all i have is :

and i am on 1.3 7 is there something wrong

Could you switch to Classic and see if that fixes the problem?

Note there is also a new setting in the Configuration ... Product Listing ...

Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating
Show Sub-Categories on Main Page while navigating through Categories
