Now that I'm thinking about it...if I installed both the zipship module and the regular zones module will zencart get confused?, or will it recognize the zipcode module and override the regular zones module if the delivery zipcode is in the local delivery area, but still says "OR" state in their delivery address?? Do you know? Has anyone tried this combination of shipping before?

Thanks to all! Once I figure out a way for this type of shipping to work, I will repost here in case anyone else has the same type of shipping they are setting up.

Basically one of the zones has to be zipcode based because of local delivery to a limited number of zipcodes in 2 different states (WA and OR) and the rest of the united states is being delivered from a different company.
That is the exact reason that I built this module. My customer has a shop in FL - she wanted to offer free shipping to those within 5 miles of the store if they spent over $50.00 and reduced for under $50.00 - Her regular shipping modules are installed for the rest of the world - So even if you live in FL but you don't live in one of the zipcodes in her list (I think she has about 7 or 8 - I would have to go look) you are automatically reverted to the standard UPS shipping rates, but if you do live in one of those areas - based on how much you spend you get the benefit of either free or reduced shipping.

So we have three options installed 1.- Store Pickup 2. UPS rates 3. Rate exceptions for those that want delivery but live close by.

For the rest of the world set up your shipping as you normally would. Just set this up for those exceptions as I have and it should work like a charm. Don't forget to modify your messages to reflect your particular situation in the appropriate language files. I've only provided the English file.

If you would like to see it in action - the site is http://www.lorindascandlesandmore.com Please be considerate as this is a live shop. You can place items within the cart and demonstrate it with the shipping estimator - here are a couple of the zipcodes that are implemented - 33801 and 33803 and of course it's the state of Florida. So to see how it works, first in the estimator list one of these zipcodes in Fl and see the results, then go back and recheck using your own state and zip code.

Glad this is helpful to you.

Is there a way that we put range instead of typing the whole Zip Code into the Shipping Module setting one by one? For exeample, in Zone 1, 91000-93000,08000-083000.

This would save heck a lot of time and effort.

No, I'm sorry. The code is written specifically to input each zip code followed by a comma. You would have to rewrite the code for that to work. It was written based on the zones module which is written the same way.

Probably someday we can work that thing out. I'm not a code writer yet

    Hi,

Just to let you know that you can set up Zip Code ranges using the new module we've just released.

Hope it's of use to you!

    All the best...

Rwoody, about your mod I need something similar but instead only let the specificed zipcodes the abilities to checkout.

Do you know if there is an easy way to modify your mod to do this?

This would help our local food delivery service make sure that the delivery address is within our delivery area.

    Thank you

My first answer is no; however I would have to get my brain around this, but my first thought is you could try setting this up for your delivery area only, change the language file for all others to read something like - Sorry, you are out of our delivery area, you will need to pickup your order at our store located at: and then setup the only other available shipping method as Store Pickup (if they can do that). That "might" work for you, but you would have to test it out to see. Just be sure you have very clear language files setup so that your customer knows that they are out of the delivery area.

If Store Pickup is not an option I haven't ever tested to see if it would still check out without an available shipping method. I would think it would not, but as I said, I've never tried it, so test it first and see what happens.

Sorry I'm not more help here - maybe one of the core developer would be able to direct you further.

    Ruth
