Does Zen-Cart Support Multiple Weight Options Per Product?

I'm running an online store, and while I was originally leaning towards osCommerce (which I've used before), I wanted to check out Zen-Cart and see how well it'd work for me.

Here's one question I have:

Many products the store is selling are available in multiple size/weights. For example, a specific brand of rice may be available in 10lb, 25lb, or 50lb bags. I'd like people to be able to choose the size from the product page, either from a drop-down menu (with the price listed), or from a table listing sizes and prices, and a how-many-to-buy field for each. (Either would work, or any other method I'm not thinking of.)

Does Zen-Cart support this?

Yes, you can add attributes 5, 10, 15 lb etc or size or color and/or multiple attributes red, green, blue, and size, s, m, l

I believe that once you are initiated, you will find Zen Cart superior to OSC.

And, unlike in osCommerce (as far as I can figure), those actually change the product's shipping weight?

It'd be great if someone posted a concise feature comparison table between Zen-Cart and osCommerce, or a list of key things Zen-Cart does that osCommerce dosn't. I did a Google search, and all I found are some blog entries saying Zen-Cart does tons more, and other saying it's "bloatware". But if it can handle my size options properly, and it's template-based and actually uses CSS properly, I'm sold!

Yes the capability to have different weights for an attribute can be setup

Difficult to compare as a vase install of OSC normally requires many add-ons to make a functional cart where as many of these basic functions are included in the base install of Zen Cart - call it bloat or consider it a more complete product.

Thanks! I got zen-cart installed, and so far it's great. I've still got things I'm trying to figure out, but overall it's coming together. (And after the store's set up, I'll look to see if I can program together an easier way to create products with weight options than the current multiple-step process.)

You might look to a mod "easy populate" or any mysql tool you may prefer
