Default Redeeming issue - code won't work

I was testing gift certs and all seemed great. It sent them email, showed a gift cert balance of $25, but when I used the link or code to redeem the cert it just says invalid gift cert code. On the admin side if i look it shows as if it was redeemed.

I dont know what is wrong! Please help!

I set up the gift cert as a product and all but the redeem codes wont work even when they have never been used.

If you have a balance for $25 that means the Gift Certificate was redeemed ...

Redeemed means it was added to the Customer's balance for spending later and the Code is marked used or no longer can be redeemed ...

To use the Gift Certificate Balance when you are on the checkout_payment page of the checkout you will see an input box with a balance underneath where you can type in how much or all of the Gift Certificate Balance to apply to the order ...

This is done this way so the customer can either spend the Gift Certificate or send the funds to a friend or do part to a friend and part to an order ...

This is what I did to test to make sure it was working.

I added $25 gift cert to cart and checked out. Sent the gift cert to myself via email for $25.

Once I logged into my email I clicked the link to redeem my gift cert. I added a $20 item to cart. During checkout I put in the redemption code from my email and entered 20.00 for the amount I wanted to use. When I hit continue it gives an error that the redemption code is invalid. I tried this several times and still the same result.

I dont understand why it wont work. Any ideas?

When you get to the checkout_payment ... does it show a balance in your account?

If so, do not try to enter the Redeem code ... you redeemed it already ... you just need to enter the amount to apply to your order ...
