Layout controller errors

Hi, I'm fairly new to Zen Cart so you may have to bear with me.
I am running the latest version (1.3.7) of Zen Cart.

I am trying to set up the layout boxes(including, eventually, the css flyout mod)as I want them, however I cannot change the status of 'categories.php' I get the following error:

Error 403: You don't have permission to access /admin/layout_controller.php on this server.

I thought I had solved it by resetting the order to the default, which made the categories appear, but any further modification are forbidden. All other layout boxes are unaffected by this. I have tried changing the permissions on the admin folder and layout_controller.php. Any ideas?

Just noticed I get the same error updating the EZpages also!

The directories should be 755 and the files 644 ...

What are you using?

I am changing the permissions with Dreamweaver- I have checked that they have been changed on the server via Plesk.

Just noticed I get a 403 error when trying to edit 'page2.php', 'page3.php' and 'page4.php' in define pages editor, but other pages are unaffected!

"You don't have permission to access /admin/define_pages_editor.php on this server."

Very wierd!

BTW I have renamed the admin folder, and made the necessary corrections in the configuration php's

I have another problem in the add - categories / products editor. I can add products to an existing category, but adding my own categories throws the same error403: access forbidden. It seems it definitely is a problem with permissions to my admin folder but, what, I don't know(yet!)

You might check if there is some kind of user group permissions involved here ...

If you have never modified your /admin and the directories or subdirectories ...

Rename the /admin to /admin_old and reload the /admin from a clean download of Zen Cart from the Downloads link at the top of your screen ...

Ok, I have re-instated the admin folder as suggested (Thanks Ajeh!), and access to most pages seems to be restored, with the exception of some of the pages (but not all!)in the define pages editor page2.php, conditions.php etc
Seriously thinking of doing a fresh install....

OK, just did a fresh install, and rebuilt my custom folders- now I cannot edit ANY files in the define pages editor. Also in categories products edit mode and EZPages edit mode I can create new pages and new categories, but editing existing entries is 403'd! I'm beginning to wonder if my server is the issue here...
On another matter, when I was digging away in the php my admin area I noticed that the 'collation' is set to 'Swedish' is this correct?

Make sure that you set the directory and all files in:
/includes/languages/english/html_includes

to be 777 ...

You cannot edit files via the Admin until they are set to 777

Afterwards, you can change their permissions for better security ...
