xhtml problem Using Dreamweaver to customize?

    Hello my fellow zenericans!

I have a program called Macromedia dreamweaver 8, I'm sure many of you know what that is.

If i want to change the layout on my page, for example i want a completly different layout frontpage, with dynamic menues or something, is it easy to use dreamweaver for those kind of things, and what files do you need to customize?

You don't have to answer my questions to answer this thread, just tell me if you think this is hard, or maybe it is the wrong way to do it?

    Regards from Norway, Jonas.

Dreamweaver is a good option to edit the files, basically because you have an option in the edit menu, Find and replace, and you can look for any <code> that you need to change in your entire site, so this give to you a great flexibility to find what you want to change. Of course this type of search is also available in the /admin area of zen cart.

However keep in mind that basically the changes that you want to do are in code, css styles, and not in a "template" (in the sense of dreamweaver handle "templates", I'm not sure if is clear).

No you can't use Dreamweaver like your thinking.

You can edit CSS and add HTML code to your site with it, but I get the feeling you think zen-cart can be edited like a HTML page, if thats the case then no you can't use dreamweaver like that with zen-cart.

You can edit most the layout with the .TPL files, and the CSS file.

There are some expensive php extentions that are supposed to mitigate this but I only know that they exist and do not own them.

There is so much more to Zen Cart over the styling, in the functions and what becomes available from these that I have to agree that working with DW as you normally would for a html page/site is not the best nor the most efficient.

Roll up the sleeves, and dig in. Once you get aquainted with the code and the templating system(a little learning curve) I think that you will agree that it is powerful.
