Cannot add sideboxes

Whenever I try to add a sidebox through the admin (Layout Boxes Controller), the sidebox does not appear on my page. I set up 2 web sites, one with classic and one with a custom template - the one above is with custom and the problem exists in both. If the sidebox is already there, I can remove it and then add it back but if it is not, like shopping cart, it will not add. I have worked on this for many hours with no luck - search the web and this forum.

This box is dynamic and does not display until there is something in the cart.

Try adding something to the cart and see if it displays??

Without looking at each I can only offer that there are several that if there is no info to display then they do not display.

Like the mfg - if you have not entered any mfg's then Zen Cart asks why display the box?
