    Default UK People Help Heeeeeelp!!

Without trying to sound too dramatic.... HEEELP =)

I neeed some advice from other Brits, on what methods of payments they have set up on their websites. So far I accept Cheques (GBP only) and Paypal IPN... what else do you use?

Has anyone tried the bank transfer? Is it safe? What information would the customer need to see?

I want to offer more methods of payments, but don't understand how and if I were to get charged (because right now, I don't think I could afford to be charged that much, I'm new at this lol)

Any help and advice from my fellow Brits (or knowledgeable people lol) would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!!

In addition to cheques and Paypal, NoChex offers a cost effective service. I'm not sure what you mean by "the Bank Transfer" but in general for a customer to do a bank transfer to you they would need your bank account details ... not a good idea to give these out over the internet.

Other than this there are payment providers such as Worldpay but they generally have setup fees and higher transaction costs for small businesses.

I'm sure I read on Zen that they can transfer money to you via your iban number, I'll look in to it.
Also, what do people use for credit cards payments?

Credit card payment will add a bill for you on a monthly basis,

starting somewhere around $30 a month ( discount fees, ransaction fees and gateway fees )

this will depend on the gateway company, and the amount of business that you do

We use Protx which has been pretty faultless - also cheques and invoice (once a customer has registered and we have authorised it). Used to use PayPal but was pretty frustrating for users - and for us.

Main gripe (and sorry to raise this again) is the compulsion to register before purchase. Have lost count the number of times returning customers have forgotten their password and they don's see the 'forgotten password' link - would be much simpler if order tracking could be accomplished simply with an email address and order number (that's if they actually enter in the correct email address in the first place!).
