Anyway, as stated above, there's only 6% of people world-wide that uses IE6 and unless your primary target countries are Peoples Republic of China, still coming in at 21.3% Japan, coming in at 4.7%, or South Korea, coming in at 2.8% of IE6 users.
So......if your primary target countries are the U.S. (0.4%), and Canada (0.7%), then by all means there'll NOT be very many IE6 users.

And even if they was a significant amount of people that use IE6, it's either because they work at an IT company who refuses to upgrade and they should be working instead of browsing anyway, or they are people who are just ignorant to the fact that using a browser that's been outdated as long as this one has, that it's chock full of security issues.

The IT people CAN'T do anything about it, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE..........DON'T be one of those people to let them REMAIN ignorant toward the situation.............EDUCATE YOUR CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE DANGERS OF USING OUTDATED BROWSERS!!!
And if YOU are still so concerned about trying to build a site for a browser that the company that made it won't even support anymore, then apparently you need to EDUCATE YOURSELF about it!

Think about it this way:

You've got a customer who doesn't KNOW better than to use IE6. Then somebody builds a site that supports this out-dated piece of software. Said customer comes to site, browsing with IE6, which ALL the educated people warn against using. Said customer makes a purchase, having to enter their valuable information on this site. Then, since they used an out of date browser, they got hacked and some creep stole their identity. They spend the next year trying to get their life back, and no telling how much money already got stolen from them.
So why did the customer get hacked to begin with? It's because they went to a site that didn't warn them about using out-dated and dangerous browsers. Now, it becomes YOUR FAULT, as you built it, then didn't even warn them about the dangers. Can you live with that?

I couldn't! I actually CARE about MY reputation as a designer. And even more than caring for me, you can ask any of my customers, I actually care, help, and even educate my customers about potential dangers. That's why I.................LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD..................have dropped support for IE6, and absolutely REFUSE to make ANY site compatible with it.

MAKE THEM UPGRADE!!



Anyway Sarah, I desperately hope I've changed your mind about developing for IE6 and hackers right along with it, but if not.................Sorry, but you'll find absolutely NO support for IE6 here.

I MAY care a little about IE7 (but not much), but I am not going through ANY extraordinary efforts to make IE6 play nice on any site I am currently working on..

I get the same accusation from time to time on this forum by those who CLEARLY don't know me (at least they do not know my online persona since most of these folks tend to be new to this forum) I fail to understand how HONESTY is mistaken for RUDENESS.. My daddy used to say that sugar coating is for candy and hand holding is between you and your sweetheart.. The truth is sometimes not sweet or comforting.. it is just that THE TRUTH!!
