CAD set up but USD inforce

I have setup my shop in Canada (Configuration-->my store). Also in the admin--> Localization I have setup CAD as the default. But when I add a new product and enter the price i.e. $100, it displays $111 in the product preview! What ever I have done, the system accept my price as USD and then translates it to CAD. I guess the problem is to set up the system to undrstand the entry price is CAD not USD.
I have fresh new version of Zen cart but using a custome template. I have edited includes/languages/english.php and manulay changed the USD to CAD, but still no luck.
Would you please comment what should I do now?

Check the currency update options to make sure it updates at least once. If CAD is the default then the ref value is 1.00 and should show as the default currency
